St Valentine's Day
Well, this year, it is going to be a St Valentines day like no other. We will need to create the magic at home rather than relying on our favourite restaurants and cafes to weave their web of love around our table. So, I propose we start with a beautiful looking and tasting starter of peppery rocket leaves, creamy stracciatella and seasonal blood oranges. For main course we will have a beautiful t-bone steak cooked on the bone and more than enough for two to share. The accompanying sauces can be prepared ahead of time and the combination of a rich horseradish sauce and a bracing and vibrant green sauce create a refreshing and delicious foil for the beef. Crisp hedgehog potatoes should bring a smile and as we know one of the ways to melt our heart is a potato -isn't it!
To finish with a flourish, I suggest feathery light, shiny and crackling sheets of filo pastry served with tender poached pears and a white chocolate caramel. Turn down the lights, light a few more candles, pop on the cheesy tunes and ...........
